BREAKING: Alaska’s Bipartisan Governing Coalition Prevails

WASHINGTON — Alaska House Democrats, Independents, and moderate Republicans came together to form a governing coalition in the Alaska state House, dashing national Republicans’ hopes at complete control in the state. The prevailing independent governing coalition means that Democrats will have a powerful seat at the table over the next two years.

“Congratulations to Alaska Democrats for keeping this coalition intact so they can get things done for their constituents,” said Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Jessica Post. “Democrats and their partners in the majority have been at the forefront of the fight for health care access, education funding, and equity for rural Alaskans and Alaska Natives. I am so excited to see the progress this coalition continues to bring to everyday Alaskans.”

Outside groups like the Republican State Leadership Committee poured money into Alaska in an effort to diminish Democratic power in the state and install a right-wing, hardline conservative majority. This is the third cycle in a row the group has prematurely and incorrectly claimed victory in Alaska.
