Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces Slate of Targets in Oregon Senate
The Oregon Senate is on the DLCC’s Target Map to deliver a supermajority in the chamber
WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced five Target Races in the Oregon Senate, where Democrats need to gain just two seats to achieve a supermajority. Winning a supermajority would allow Oregon Democrats to override Republican obstruction to continue delivering for Oregonians and keep Republicans from breaking quorum at critical moments during legislative sessions.
The DLCC is working directly with the Oregon Senate Democratic Caucus and Target Race candidates to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact. 2026 is a historic opportunity to shift the balance of power across the country and expand Democratic power in Oregon, and the DLCC has the Target Map and strategy to meet this moment.
Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:
“A Democratic supermajority in the Oregon Senate is within striking distance, and the DLCC is prepared to seize on the historic opportunity in 2026 to flip seats and expand Democratic power in the state. Democrats in Oregon have used their power to pass landmark legislation protecting healthcare access and lowering housing costs, while Republicans have denied quorum to stall legislation on reproductive freedom and gun violence prevention. Gaining a supermajority would stop the GOP from blocking progress and let Democrats deliver for Oregonians. This group of strong candidates has already hit the ground running to connect with voters, and the DLCC will be with them every step of the way until they reach the finish line.”

- Deb Patterson (SD-10)
- Virginia Stapleton (SD-11)
- Rachel Armitage (SD-16)
- Nicole Bassett (SD-26)
