Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces Additional Slate of Targets in Georgia
2026 is a historic opportunity to build Democratic power in the Georgia General Assembly
WASHINGTON—Today, in response to new polling information showing increased odds for gaining ground in the Georgia House, the DLCC announced nine additional Target Races as we aim to build power in both chambers of the General Assembly. 2026 is a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Democrats to shift the balance of power in Georgia, and flipping seats has never been more important. Now that the floodgates for racial gerrymandering are wide open after the Callais decision, Georgia Republicans have their sights set on further gerrymandering Georgia’s congressional and state legislative maps.
The DLCC has supported Georgia Democrats cycle after cycle, and the House has picked up seats in the last five consecutive cycles. With the best candidate recruitment in over 30 years, grassroots energy is undeniable. Our team is working directly with the Georgia House and Senate caucuses to deliver support and resources for data, research, and direct voter contact. 2026 is a historic moment for Democrats to remake power dynamics in Georgia. With just 41 days until the election, the DLCC has the Target Map and strategy to meet this moment.
