RELEASE: DLCC Announces First Slate of Target Races in Maine

WASHINGTON— Today, the DLCC announced our first Target Races in Maine, including 5 key House races and 2 Senate races, to protect and build Democratic power this November. The DLCC will work directly with caucuses and Target Race candidates to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact. This announcement comes on the heels of strong candidate recruitment and is the first of several to come, as the DLCC plans to announce over 500 Target Races across the country.

While Maine is home to competitive races up and down the ballot in 2026, expanding Democratic power in the legislature is essential to strengthen the bulwark against the Trump administration and position Democrats to lead ahead of redistricting in 2030. With these stakes in mind, Maine will be a top DLCC priority as we go on offense with our largest-ever Target Map and single-year budget across 42 chambers in 27 states.

Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“2026 presents a crucial opportunity to expand power in the Maine legislature and secure a Democratic stronghold for years to come. We need strong candidates and campaigns to deliver on this opportunity, which is why we are announcing our first batch of Target Races in Maine earlier than ever. We are proud to stand with these candidates who are already out there pounding the pavement to connect with voters and clinch victories this November.”

  • Wayne Farrin (HD-47)
  • Sally Cluchey (HD-52)
  • Scott Harriman (HD-94)
  • Kilton Webb (HD-98)

Maine Senate 

  • Chip Curry (SD-11)
  • Cameron Reny (SD-13)
