​​​DLCC Calls on GOP State Leaders to Disavow Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee Executive Director Jessica Post decried the failure of Republican legislative leaders in statehouses around the country to denounce their party’s presidential nominee now that his degrading comments and casual advocacy of sexual assault have come to light.

“GOP lawmakers and candidates running for office must answer for their party’s standard bearer and his horrifying comments about women,” said Post. “Whether it’s paid family leave, pay equality, healthcare options, or the right to make decisions about our own bodies, Republicans elected to office in state legislatures have an outsized impact on the policies that affect women every day. Any Republican candidate for office who refuses to denounce Trump after the comments that came to light on Friday cannot be trusted to govern in the best interests of his or her women constituents.”
