With Josh Shapiro re-elected as governor, Democrats have won a trifecta for the first time in nearly 50 years. In one of the most competitive battleground states, Pennsylvania voters delivered a mandate for a new era, led by Democrats and their vision for the state’s future.

The DLCC has worked hand in hand with our partners in Pennsylvania to flip this chamber that Democrats have not won outright since 1978. Tonight is shaping up to be a record-breaking election for Democrats across the country, and one of the longest-lasting impacts will be the ability for Democrats to fend off Republican attacks on voting rights and our electoral process in states like Pennsylvania. In a state historically known for its vital role in the presidential path to power, Democrats’ new trifecta installs a vital safeguard for our democracy and fundamentally reconfigures the political landscape for the entire nation.
