BREAKING: DLCC Denounces Trump’s Unconstitutional Attack on Mail-in Voting And States’ Authority Over Elections

Under the Constitution, states determine how elections are conducted  – Trump’s executive order represents an alarming threat to our democracy

WASHINGTON — In response to President Trump signing an executive order attacking mail-in voting, Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee President Heather Williams issued the following statement:

“Trump’s latest attack on mail-in voting should alarm everyone who believes in free and fair elections. This is a blatant attempt by the President to undermine states’ control over election administration for his own benefit – which is a direct attack on the Constitution and our democracy. Make no mistake: This unprecedented action is voter suppression – plain and simple – and marks a desperate move by Trump to steal the next election. Every citizen’s vote matters and should be counted, and state Democrats will fight to protect our elections from federal interference.”
