WASHINGTON — In a stunning victory on a historic night, the DLCC and Indiana Democrats have successfully flipped enough House seats to break the supermajority Republicans have controlled since 2013 and defeated Republican House Speaker Todd Huston. Indiana Republicans had used their unchecked power to attack civil rights and gut funding for health care, public schools, and other critical social programs. Tonight, their failed agenda caught up with them as voters turned out to reject the MAGA agenda and elect new leadership.

The DLCC’s strategy to build Democratic power in GOP-controlled states like Indiana takes dedicated work over multiple cycles. Tonight’s wins started with identifying the best opportunities to flip seats, recruiting strong candidates, and making sure Democrats had the tools and resources needed to win. Nationwide, it is a record-breaking night for Democrats, and gaining ground in states like Indiana is pivotal as we look to 2028 and beyond.
