DLCC Board Member
Monique Limón
Senate President Pro Tempore, California
Senate President Pro Tempore Monique Limón is making history as the first woman of color to be elected President Pro Tempore of the California State Senate, a chamber where state Senators represent more people than the average U.S. Congressional District. A proud daughter of immigrants, she brings a deep commitment to justice, equity, and opportunity to the state whose massive population and expansive economy make a national and global impact. Limón spent 14 years working in higher education – experience that continues to inform her unwavering dedication to California’s students. With strong backing from California’s labor movement, she has championed policies that uplift working families, protect immigrant communities, and expand access to quality education.
Senate President Pro Tempore Limón was first elected to the DLCC Board in 2025.
