DLCC Board Member
Don Scott
Speaker of the House, Virginia
Speaker Don Scott is an unapologetic champion for working Virginians whose unfailing work ethic and vision helped him become the first Black speaker of the Virginia House of Delegates. In what was a solidly red state just a decade ago, Speaker Scott’s record of delivering for Virginians has helped solidify and expand Democrats’ strength across the Commonwealth. An attorney and former United States Naval Officer, there is nothing Speaker Scott wouldn’t do to serve his community – including donating one of his kidneys to his neighbor. He has fought tirelessly to protect progress in his state, and all eyes should be on Virginia and Speaker Scott’s leadership, which are crucial firewalls against the Trump administration’s extremism.
Speaker Scott was first elected to the DLCC Board in 2025.

But this job has never been about titles — it’s about building a better Virginia for our children and securing a stronger future for generations to come. pic.twitter.com/MLpQF4jqek
“Most people are trying to figure out…how they afford the things that they need, whether they have good schools for their kids, and whether it’s safe to live in the community, and that’s what we’ve been focused on.” – DLCC Board Member @SpeakerDonScott https://t.co/8oArkw0AMD
