Missouri Democrats break the decade-long Republican supermajority in both chambers of the legislature

WASHINGTON — In a stunning victory, Democrats in Missouri have successfully flipped enough seats in both the House and the Senate to break both supermajorities Republicans have controlled since the Obama presidency. Missouri Republicans have repeatedly used their unchecked power for over a decade to silence voters, including attempting to rig the congressional maps and trying to force through changes to the state constitution. These Democratic gains in the legislature will serve as a crucial check to the toxic power of Missouri Republicans, with long-lasting impacts for Democrats to protect voting rights and shape congressional maps.

The DLCC understands that building Democratic power in GOP-controlled states like Missouri takes dedicated work over multiple cycles.
