WASHINGTON — Today, Sabato’s Crystal Ball released new ratings for state legislative chambers, with ten chambers in seven states moving in favor of Democrats: “Given this environment, we are shifting the ratings of 10 chambers, all of them in the Democrats’ direction.” With less than 20 days until the 2026 midterms, these new rating changes underscore the monumental opportunity to shift the balance of power across the country. The DLCC leads the national strategy to build and protect Democratic power in statehouses. With the organization’s most expansive Target Map in history and a once-in-a-generation political environment, the DLCC is targeting over 500 districts and multiple new majorities, which could lead to some of the most consequential and longest-lasting results of the 2026 election.
