Target Race Launch: DLCC Announces Latest Slate of Key Targets in Georgia

2026 is a historic year to build power in the Georgia House and Senate as Republicans launch a gambit to rig the maps and cement their power

WASHINGTON—Today, the DLCC announced another slate of Target Races in Georgia as we gear up for a historic election. These four House candidates join the three targets we announced in April – with more to come – and represent competitive, must-win races to build Democratic power across the state. The DLCC has helped Democrats in Georgia steadily chip away at Republican power over the last decade, picking up seats in the House in the last five consecutive cycles, and we are prepared to carry this momentum into November.

Georgia Republicans have controlled the state legislature for over two decades and have recently used that power to rubber-stamp Trump’s extreme agenda. Tomorrow, the legislature begins a special session to gerrymander the state’s congressional and state legislative maps in Republicans’ favor for 2028 and disenfranchise communities of color.

This is an all-hands-on-deck moment, and the DLCC is working directly with the Georgia House Democratic Caucus and Target Race candidates to deliver support and resources for data, research, polling, paid communication, and direct voter contact to make inroads across Georgia. Georgia is a top priority on the DLCC’s ambitious Target Map as we prepare to deliver a once-in-a-generation shift in the balance of power in state legislatures this November.
