The DLCC is currently reviewing candidates for our Staff Assistant position, based in Washington, DC. A description of the position and application process are listed below.
QUALIFICATIONS:
College degree or equivalent experience is preferred. Applicants should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and must be proficient in Excel, Access, Publisher, Power Point and Adobe. Experience in state legislative level campaigns is a huge advantage. An affinity for technology is also big plus (those with experience in databases, research/LexisNexis, and/or websites/HTML, are encouraged to apply).
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Staff Assistant will fulfill a ‘utility-player’ function within the organization, providing assistance to every department as requested. This person will also act as an information ‘hub’ within the Political department; and as a liaison between Political, Finance and other departments. It should be noted that this is an entry-level position, but as a vital role in a small team, there is significant room for growth in this position. Many of the tasks required are considered administrative, but there are enough substantive projects to provide ample opportunities to demonstrate your aptitude and fitness for potential advancement.
OVERVIEW OF DUTIES:
*Assisting with organizing and logistical coordination for our annual Caucus Staff Training
*Updating standard internal memos (tracking changes in chamber margins, internal chamber target list, redistricting analysis, etc.)
*Maintaining resources & training materials offered on our Legislative Partner Tools website
*Supporting Political Department’s upkeep of internal demographics database (electronic data entry, cataloguing data in the Political office, etc.)
*Facilitating flow of information with our allies on redistricting
*Inputting data into our legislator/donor database
*Calling legislative leaders around the country to build attendance at DLCC events, and attending events to assist Finance staff as needed
*Assisting Executive Director and various departments with designing and updating presentations to allied groups, donors, etc.
*Many other wide-ranging tasks for all departments
