Indiana House Democrats End Stalemate After Halting Extreme GOP Agenda

“Indiana House Democrats stepped up to the front lines in the GOP war on working families,” said Sargeant. “The Indiana GOP attempted to exploit the state’s fiscal hardships to execute a cynical political attack against teachers and working families, and Indiana Democrats fought back every step of the way.
“The compromise reached by the Party leaders in the House is a significant retreat from the radical right-wing agenda the Republicans sought to advance a month ago. House Democrats secured an important victory in their efforts to protect public education and workers’ rights.”
Indiana House Democratic Leader Pat Bauer also commented on the standoff-ending agreement.
“This is not a perfect compromise. Democrats aren’t bound to vote for it, nor are we prevented from trying to amend the proposals before us. But this is something to work with, and we are headed back to
