Democrat Ousts GOP Sen. Kapanke in Wisconsin Recall

DLCC Congratulates Jennifer Shilling on Her Win

Washington, DC-With 98 of 119 precincts reporting, Democratic state Rep. Jennifer Shilling has been declared the winner of the Wisconsin recall election in SD 32 with 55 percent of the vote.  Michael Sargeant, Executive Director of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, issued the following statement regarding Rep. Shilling’s victory.

“Jennifer Shilling’s win tonight is a huge triumph for not only for the residents of the 32nd Senate District, but also for Democrats across Wisconsin and across the country,” said Sargeant. “Senator-elect Shilling will stand up to Governor Scott Walker and his GOP cronies and continue the fight for working families, kids, and middle-class values.

“This is a huge win in the battle to loosen the Republican stranglehold on Wisconsin state government. Tonight’s Democratic victory is part of a broad rebuke of the Wisconsin GOP’s out-of-touch, anti-middle class agenda.”
